Legends may sleep but NEVER die

Back in March 1998, Blizzard Entertainment released a completely new game, “StarCraft”.
It’s still a big famous game and for example a cult in korea. You won’t find any game with that style of RTS where you have such a difference between the races. You won’t find another game with such epic moments. Just give up and play starcraft.
As a matter of fact we have 11 great years behind us and it’s time for another era. We are 2 weeks away from the Beta start. “StarCraft II,” the long awaited sequel to 1998’s top PC game, is slated to launch by the end of the year. But it’s not just record sales the company envisions. Blizzard wants another classic.
And they’ll give us a new era of RTS. We only know a few Blizzard Games but it’s still very popular. So many people ask themselves:
•Why is Blizzard so popular?
This isn’t a difficult question. Let’s go back to 1994. After 14 Blizzard (or Silicon & Synapse) Games like their first one ,“RPM Racing” ,then their first RPG “J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings” and the famous “The Lost Vikings”the first HIT came.It was their second RTS , called “Warcraft: Orcs & Humans”.
It sure made some fans and a great image in 1994. So were the novels written by “Blizzards”. Warcraft had a great storyline and plot but the problem was of course the realization of the Story in the Game.
But they did it better. 2 Games later and a new Engine “Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness” was released in 1995 with a new style and 4 years later the introduction of the well known Battle.net and epic fights over the Internet. It also had great ingame cinematics. What we call now a “pixel mess” was stunning in 1995 and Blizzard was of course one of the first that used such great cinematics/cutscenes.
One year later “Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal” was released and it was an epic success. It required Pentium 60 MHz, 16MB RAM. Blizzard was always good in high quality for low pc’s. We can play 3D Games like Warcraft III with an old 128 MB Ram. After the Warcraft II Expansion the name “Blizzard” was from now on always associated with a great Universe. Warcraft. But it was not enough.
In the same year the next Universe “Diablo” was released. It is an action-oriented fantasy role-playing game in another Universe. It seems that Blizzard wanted more technology and laser pewpew’s in their Games. That could be the reason for the Release in 1998 after a long break (over 1 year) of Starcraft. Starcraft was a nuke for all games and pulled a lot of gamers into a “starcraft addiction”. But no wonder. Starcraft had a total unique Gameplay and it is the ultimate proof that the argument “This game isn’t 3D and has low graphics” is totally bullshit (watch the video for more facts).
Blizzard had their 3 Universes. Over the years they expanded their universes for example with Diablo II + Expansion or the well known World of Warcraft. Rumors were spreaded about potential WoS or WoD and screenshots like this appeared:

but they are still rumors and there are a lot of speculations about Blizzard.
Conclusion
Blizzard is not one of that EA-Games which spams with 100 flop games every year. Blizzard had only 10 released Games in the last 11 years but they were ALL (without exceptions) TOP Games. It’s nearly impossible to find a gamer who doesn’t know at least 1 Blizzard Game because Blizzard is dominating the gaming world.
Now it’s time to say “R.I.P. Starcraft. You’re evolving into a Lair.”
You will get the latest Starcraft II Beta infos on this site so let’s wait 2 weeks and ”Hell , it’s about time!”.
I highly recommend to watch the Retro Blizzard Summary Video:
We will watch now an epic review of the last 11 years of EPIC STARCRAFT MOMENTS. It’s imho the best Starcraft Video ever made.
Enjoy! Adun Toridas

that’s not a good idea to put such a long post on the main page, it’s long and too heavy for the title page and taking away the main purpose now – tower defense game
Also if i were you, i would not say such things about EA, it’s just rude. EA as Blizz are publishers that also have dev companies, they just have different politics, a lot of people like EA or dislike Blizz, it’s their choice. And btw, it’s more than 10 games during the last 11 years
it were only 10 (proof: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_Entertainment#Titles)
That’s just too obvious who put my rating down, voted 1 and deleted my forum account. Thank you warlord
Well actually tower defense game is not the only purpose of this website. We are aimed to establish a good Starcraft 2 community so now we start to move in that direction.
Regarding the EA – I would say that publishers, for me, are just resellers that do not create anything their selves. And despite the fact they have created awesome games in the past their modern games are mostly crap, unfortunately.
Anyway I do not encourage any public debates in comments and ask you to express your opinion on the forums.
I also apologize for the inconvenience with your forum account. It is restored now.
