Got an email from Blizzard today, with an invite for my friend, and it included the key, however the key is not working?

Just trying to figure out what the issue is?

I have the same issue. Error message says key is invalid (not key already claimed, as if I put in my original beta key). Help?

I seem to remember some people in Wave 2 or so having key problems, and Xordiah helped direct them to get them resolved. Maybe they are having a similar issue. I would make sure to email support about it.

EDIT: with so many with the problem, I'm betting they will know that they have a problem. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Uh, I don't think Blizzard has sent invites out for you to give to your friends....

Probably a keylogger

Alvin
03-18-2010, 04:38 PM
Then how did these keyloggers get sent out to 3 different regions of the world to tens of thousands of players?

Jimhorton
03-18-2010, 04:39 PM
Well if it's giving you a key, how is it a keyboard logger? What are they trying to steal?

Unless it's telling you to have your friend go to some site that's not www.battle.net - but then it's just to steal b.net accounts that don't have beta access. Well I guess there could be a WoW account which has some value.

Need more info on what the email actually says!

It's quite possible the emails went out before the keys were loaded into their database. They might work later

Blizzard knows that they need these types of invites if they want 2v2 (and 3v3 which is supposed to be added soon) arranged teams to work properly

Good thing the people sending the keyloggers know exactly who is in beta.

whatever you do, dont ever click the link within the email.

always open your browser manually, and type in the keys to check.

when i got my invite email, i didnt believe it was real. i checked all the "backlinks" within that email, and still didnt believe it was real until the key worked.

i did all the extra steps to keep my login safe, even i have an authenticator.

Looking through the e-mail it all seems legit. All the links are pointing to the appropriate areas, no masking that I saw. The sender is SC2betaUS@blizzard.com as well.

It's legit, the US keys just don't seem to be working at the moment. The EU keys are working however.

I can confirm my friend is also experiencing the Invalid Key message when trying to use the key I sent him to get into the beta.

Also for all the people crying key logger, I'm 99% sure this is legit. I'm including a picture of the email I received to quiet the doubters.

Got the email, gave key to friend, invalid.

Anyone screaming "keylogger!" is a moron.
The email is legit.

Plz to fix.

This is not a keylogger the same email address that sent out the original beta invite, goodness some of you people.

Here's a thought.. maybe the reset is coming tomorrow. No sense in enabling these keys before you do that. I'd feel it counter productive, where I them, to have people join, create new id's, and play a handful of placement matches.. only to have them be reset and start over again right away.

BLIZZARD NEEDS TO HIRE 1 GUY THAT WILL SIT HERE AND UPDATE ALL OF US ON WHATS GOING ON! I MEAN AT LEAST FOR BIG PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. THEY CANT JUST SEND US FRIEND INVITES AND THEM HAVE THEM SAY INVALID. HAVING THEM SAY INVALID IS NOT WHAT MAKES ME MAD. WHAT MAKES ME MAD THAT BLIZZARD CANT TAKE 2 MIN AND INFORM US OF THE PROBLEM.

I would just contact support as he suggested, I don't think you'll have to post there. I also suspect that they realize there is an issue here (this really did happen with some other keys in another wave) so I suspect that by tomorrow sometime this will work itself out. But email support about it.

Not working here too. Man, it's too bad because my friend invite went out to the greatest map maker in WC3... DarkShoGun! Creator of the Parasite series.

Who hasn't played Parasite? If you haven't, you should. One random alien player, one random android, the rest human... alien looks human and can change forms, slowly evolve and infest humans. Giant space station that can move threw space, four transport ships that can ship eachother and station, and a planet to land on and explore with NPC aliens on it. Also, nuke that blows up 10% of the map! :D Being Andriod is nice too because you are 100% not alien and can upgrade bodies.

Just posting here saying that I have the same issue. Checked my email this morning, got the same thing thats already been screenshotted in this thread, and friend was unable to use the code. Hoping that its just a DB issue, and since its still 6AM in Blizzardland, we'll see an update/info status in ~2 hrs. Gonna keep an eye on this thread for Blue text this morning!

Ah, i see a lot of other people also got this email. It looks kind of legit, since it tells you to manually go b.net and enter the key, instead of following a link (which is what keyloggers tend to do).

Hopefully Blizzard will clear this up soon and tell us if these emails are legit or not.

Some people just MUST be mavericks or contrarian renegades. Even when there is ample evidence of something, they can't be one of the sheep. They have to stand against everyone else. These are the same types of people that label virtually any negative post of any kind as a troll. Even when it's blatantly obvious the person is question is geniunely airing a grievance. nope.. obvious troll is obvious.

They are better than everyone else. They are smarter than everyone else. They are not sheep like everyone else. They don't fall for anything, like everone else.

To call them cynics is as mild an understatment as one can make.

There were no files opened. No key logging.

I just got an email from SC2betaUS@blizzard.com that had a key in it to give to a friend. I am getting the key is invalid error when trying to add it to another battle.net account.
